Raipur traffic is in a very bad shape. Traffic signals are installed in various road crossings of the city.
The timings of green signals are so impractically fixed on majority of the crossings that it is too inadequate even to pas 10 to 15 vehicles, which often results in chaoism on the crossings.
The traffic constables/personnel deployed on the crossings to oversee and control the movements of the vehicular traffic are neither properly trained nor bold enough to handle strictly any incidents of disregarding the signals and the situation of traffic jams. With the result, people are often found crossing the roads on vehicles with no regards to the signals and the police standing thereon remain silent spectators.
No body shows any regards to the zebra crossings and the police on the spot never try force the public to follow the rules.
No one is forced to follow the lanes. People who are to take a right turn stands on the extreme left lane and disturb the movement of traffic on getting the green signal but the police is never found in asking the people to abide by the law & systems. Pedestrians are freely allowed to cross the roads when the vehicular traffic is moving on the same direction, the police remain silent spectators.
There are no restrictions for the rickshaw pullers, manual cart pullers and the bi-cycle riders. They are allowed to freely break the traffic rules.
In total Raipur City traffic is in a very very bad shape.
