garbage bins are over flowing. Garbage, during transport, is not properly covered. It stinks. It spills on road. Containers are not cleaned. their deisgn is faulty. In all, pathetic.

Our entire garbage handling system needs overhaul. Currently the method is to dump garbage at designated places from where the civic body is supposed to pick it up. This keeps the garbage unconfined, in the open. Some places have huge steel open boxes as garbage containers. It is not optimum to pick them up regularly and carry to the disposal site. They only get picked up after overflow, which defeats any pretense of cleanliness. The garbage is not picked up regularly, it is dumped by roadside where it rots.
We need a garbage pick up system like in the developed world: everyone (or each society) gets large garbage bins that are put out once a week. The garbage truck mechanically picks up these bins, extracts the garbage, compacts them in its hold, and moves on leaving the empty bins behind.
Let's not reinvent the wheel. Use the methods and processes that have a long record of successful and efficient operation elsewhere in the world.

Every Corporation in order to service the garbage issue needs to understand that it has to build capacity to collect garbage that should be more than the garbage generation. Unless this is done nothing can be done...
