I have no words to describe the worse-than-what-I-could-imagine state of traffic in Varanasi. Neither the police administration has any commitment to improve things nor does the general public knows traffic rules or has respect for them. Number of Vehicles is increasing with time and roads are incapable to serve such number of them. Crossings do not have traffic lights. I hear that there are 5 in the city. I think people may not be caring for them. There are hardly any parking places, so one can park one's vehicle anywhere on roadsides.
The traffic system in Nagpur is pathetic. People of all ages and gender break traffic rules. Many people do not stop on red lights and thus endanger even those who follow rules. I had written a letter regarding this to the police commissioner of Nagpur but I did not get any response from him.
There is no planning in Nagpur traffic nor any system. So much so that there are no parking lots and neither are there any signs for no parking or parking and vehicles are lifted arbitrarily. The abnormally high footpaths constructed have made the roads even narrower leading to constricted roads that earlier were wide. There is no space for parking in hotels and hospitals and yet they are permitted to operate leading to even more chaos.

Pathetic systgem as there are no parking zone and vehicles are lifted even when theree are no "No Parking signs". Youngsters zoom about at break neck speed doing all sort of stunts and there is no police to stop them.
