Jaipur (JP)

I have seen Jaipur Railway Station since decades.
1. It has gone from bad to worse.
2. The first impression is of touts fleecing you as you come out of the railway station right under the nose of the policemen;
3. If you have gone to receive someone and are standing on the platform, the stench is unbearable. One can have a good time pass watching dogs running here and there (just witness it from Platform 4 & 5 towards the coach cleaning yard).
4. Rodents and rats (the size as big as a cat) can be seen in plenty on the railway tracks but one can't stare due to the dirt lying on the tracks.
5. Condition of platform no. 6 & 7 - less said the better though it is adjacent to the line where VIP / senior railway officials inspection car is parked.
6. One must be at the railway station to see the mad rush (both inward and outbound) from the exit (main exit side). Exit near the escalator is in utter chaos with a major stampede waiting to happen any day. This is while there is a big gate where the so called "lal batti" vehicles are only allowed. What a shame that we still have separate entry/exit for the so called VIPs / Lal Battis but no emergency exit gate for passengers!!!!!!!
7. One can easily find the train pantry staff filling up "Rail Neer" Bottles from the tap on the platforms. One need not say any further as to what is done with these refilled bottles.
8. Porters - are a menace and a nuisance to Jaipur station with most of them not amenable to accept the official rate fixed by the authorities.
9. When there was and is an exit gate at the railway station, it seems railways have permanently locked it or forgotten the keys or that this gate even exists. This would otherwise ease out the congestion of entry exit of vehicles.
10. Lastly one needs to seriously ponder with all this characteristics of Jaipur Railway station, should it be made world class at all when it does not even attempt / qualify to meet the basic standards for the localites!!

Overall rating - Very Poor

1)There is a need of improving railway enquiry window in the station, Window is too small compared to passengers , Passengers find difficulties to see the Train arrival/departure Board . Board should be at certain height , so It can be seen from last passenger.
2) Cleanliness required on platform

IMPROVE PAY AND USE TOILETS

If ignored the luggage and parcels, the station is clean. Once the new escalation system comes up the crossing of the platform and the passenger trafic will be smooth. Let us see.

The ticket counter is a nightmare. The Hasanpura side entry there are many counters but there is only one counter open both for ticket for travelling and platform tickets. The people coming to see off the passengers are unable to get the platform tickets as the there are always a long que. Railway should take care of this. Put a separate counter for the platform tickets. Earlier there was a vending machine which is not working now. There is no information counter.
