Shops,shops,everywhere all along along the way. GUMTIES, Pan shops,vegitables, fish,chicken,fruits vendors all along the footpaths. Garbage piling all along the roads.Anybody can open temporary shops by the roadside ,small streets, byelanes.
Fish,vegetables,fruit markets under Sixmile flyover.It seems there is no administrationto look at this affair.

Most footpaths are very much uneven and dirty. Footpaths meant for pedestrians are used by hawkers and builders. Roadside drains are cleaned but the dirts are kept on the road indefinitely to slip into the drain again with rainwater. Potholes are not filled in time, causing more damage to the roads. The new concept of topping up the roads with tiles is good as it is not damaged by water.

As senior citizen we like to walk every day. But it is seen that Guwahati municipality is do not consider the pedestrians as third class. Hardly there is any park for walking in the neighbourhood. We can not walk on the foot paths as most of the foot paths are occupied by hawkers. Not to speak of small hawkers, many big houses and Govt. Organisations are also occupying many footpaths. The footpath in front of big hotel Naksatra is always occupied by big cars of their customers. The hotel themselves made the inclined ramp to park their customer cars on the footpath. How is the municipality allow this? A bit away the social welfare department closed the footpath with boulders and concrete. They tried to make a car approach to their office but in vain. The office ground level is about fifteen feet above the road but the office is just ten feet away. How can they make a roadway ? As a result the foot path is closed for many years now. This is the sample of social welfare.
