Garbage collection

In our locality collection of garbage by BMC staff is excellent. There is absolutely no cause for complaint. Some of our mebers are very alert and if vehicle does not come ,immeidiately the Supervisory staff of BMC in ward office is alerted . Our society has two numbers of dust bins with proper leads . One of two is used as a standby. If for some reason or other Muncipal Garbage collecting van does not come for collection of ourgarbage. we start using second container / dust bin.Having due regards to civic sense and insistance of cleanlyness we do not dump the garbage on roads. The citizen who claim to be highly educated and occupying high posts unfortunately lack civic sense but take false pride in quoting educational qualifications and post occupied while rating the civic services. It reflects badly on them . The complainant have causual and indifferant approach to disposal of garbage , create nuisance by dumping garbage on the roads and blame the civic staff. Behave and you will have cleanliness in your locality.

There is always a huge pile of garbage dumped on the main road. This is located on the extension of Linking Road, old Daulat Nagar, Santacruz West, Mumbai. There are rats, rabid dogs, flies, mosquitoes, and crows feeding on this pile of garbage. This is the garbage of 5 residential buildings, and shops. The garbage collection vans comes maybe once in 2 to 3 days, and collects about 1/3 of the garbage. In a few hours the garbage pile is again 3 to 4 feet high. This road is used by everyone from the suburbs to go to the airport, WEH or North towards Andheri. The road has over a 1000 pot holes, and the surrounding area stinks.
Irony of it all is that there are huge posters of the local MLA's, MP's and Ministers, close and nearly above the garbage pile. This is truly a sorry situation, and all that can be said is that the Maharashtra Govt. has let us down very badly.

Message to the Maharashtra CM, Municipal Commissioner, MLA's, MP's of Mumbai. Please visit the Linking Road Extension, Santacruz (West), (Old Daulat Nagar) near the BEST Bus Depot, and witness the mountain of festering garbage piled up every day. The garbage is infested with flies, mosquitoes, crows, rabid dogs. The garbage is on the road, and there are 5 residential buildings and a school around the garbage pile. A garbage van comes once in a while, but this is not sufficient to clear the mountain of garbage. Even twice a day will not be sufficient. There are shops and residential buildings surrounding the garbage. This infected and infested pile of garbage is bound to effect the residents with numerous deceases. This is the most unhygienic area in the Western suburbs. Further the road itself, which is just 200 meters long has over a 1,000 potholes. This is a high density road, with traffic for the airport and WEH and going towards Andheri and beyond. Question is why are huge posters of Ministers, MP's and MLA's surrounding this garbage pile? The BMC and the Govt. of Maharashtra has let the citizens down.

Irrespective of follow up and meetings with BMC officials garbage collection vehicle is not coming to pick up garbage from our society and neighbouring societies. We have no option but to dump garbage in the common dumping location which is always overflowing and emitting filthy smell.

The collecting of garbage is good. Proper bins are required to be provided for the same. Due to inadequate bins, and its bin spots, the garbage is found deposited on side of roads. The garbage should be divided into two collector bins, one for perishable vegetable matter and other for non-perishable plastic packing material like plastic Bottles wrappers etc. it should be collected separately. The bin containing vegetable matter collection can be converted to organic fertilizer and can be used for cultivation. The bin containing other waste can be used for reclaiming of plastics and other ingredients.
