A lot needs to improve..

Has a greater responsibility to ensure food security of india..

In this regard, it has to enhance the attractiveness of Farming as an occupation.. It has a role to play in improving the social status of a farmer in line with that of an Engineer, doctor etc. (or) at least to that of a business man..

Tax concessions, subsidies, educational scholarships, pension schemes, insurance schemes, R&D effort, guidance at grass root levels to improve production in a sustainable manner, Minimum guaranteed price for produce based on market conditions and other benefits offered etc. has to be more dynamic.

Has to work closely with Weather department to predict rainfall and accordingly recommending crops / crop varieties, Also with Irrigation departments to ensure availability of water..

Work against indiscriminate conversion of agricultural land..

Work towards creation of exclusive Special economic zones for farming / agriculture..

Cooperative housing schemes and farming schemes shall be introduced to provide land for landless farmers / labourers who can be guided to do farming..

Lot more can be done..

Need to be more proactive and drive from the forefront..

think about farmers and labours in india .do the needfull what they want. increase the m.s.p. rate of crops
