Least bothered attitude by the Chandigarh Traffic Police for regulating traffic. The congestion on the Chandigarh roads is ever increasing but there is no attempt to find solutions. There has been no research to understand the traffic volumes at various intersections and thus readjust the timers on the automatic traffic lights, At many places the timers are for 15 seconds where it should actually be of double the duration. NO enforcement of lane driving, No re-evaluation of the necessity to instal traffic lights on the many round-abouts, which the administration is reluctant to remove, Total "NO CONCERN" attitude to manually regulate traffic even during the rush hours. The officer class of Police are the invisible class, who take decisions sitting in the offices when totally ignorant of ground realities. The city is badly short of road space, but no effort to find any solution, like ONE WAY traffic. The only thing seen is reduction of speed limits. When the new cars are coming better engines, the CP things reducing the speed limit is the only way to make more challans, the new link to IT park/DT mall is an outstanding example of this. Overall the CP is not Citizen Friendly. A city vying to be a Smart City, the standard of Policing and Traffic Control is Pathetic, simply put.
