Why have addl taxes on liquor
I feel our central and state govt love taxing the middle class in whatever way possible. Question was asked about what vat and excise rates in telangana state.
I feel by taxing liquor and petrol more govt is trying to draw more from the already stressed middle and upper middle class. Most middle and upper middle class travel for needs and have a drink or 2 with friends once or twice a month. They are not habitual drunkards
While the focus of the state machinery has to be Catching evasion but because some of their own are involved they go after the easy catch which is just increasing tax rates. more
