Many Indians consider FSSAI a failed organisation because food companies routinely sell lower-quality, heavily processed, additive-rich products in India, while providing cleaner versions abroad. The core issues are weak enforcement, low penalties, few inspectors, industry lobbying, slow policy implementation, and poor transparency.
