Why do we keep buying Chinese goods?

Why do we keep buying Chinese goods? Because we have no choice. It is difficult to find a TV , Laptop, smartphone or any such electronic gadget which is not made in China (or assembled in India by a Chinese brand). Many of the common household items like induction cooktops, vacuum cleaners, LED lamps etc. are sold under Indian brand names but are made in china and re-labelled. We do not have grass root level industrialisation. A few make-in-India defence projects started with great publicity and fanfare will not help India to industrialise.

Indians have become lazy with all freebies and subsidies given to them by state and central governments. Merit and excellence have been systematically destroyed by RESERVATIONS with people who are unfit for anything given seats in educational institutions and occupying senior positions. Systematic corruption
prevents anybody attempting to set up an industry. Politically controlled unionism and extortion that anyone wanting to run a business has to face (ease of doing business exists only on paper) discourages people from starting any ventures, particularly small and medium industries which alone can help India industrilaise. Tax terrorism and snail-paced judicial systems are designed to help crooks and frauds.

So why blame China or Amazon for all this? Chinese are smart and we are stupid, period. more

@ Dr Neelam: Truth is always bitter but needs to be told. Unless we resolve the issues that inhibit growth, we will soon be behind most countries in the region. more
The Issue is the availablity of Substitute for Electronic. For all others it should be National interest and National integrity to use MADE IN INDIA. GOI need to bring out interest of the Citizens for use of Made in India. Even before Independence , Gandhi ji called for use of SWADESHI and it has been set aside from the day of Independence. Rulers from 1st DECADE DID NOT TAKE INTEREST . NOW IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY TO promote Patriotism , National interest and National integrity . more
