“waste-free Indirapuram” campaign
If we look at our surroundings, we can see that there is a lot of plastic waste there. All the drains will stink if the drain cover is opened. The air and environmental pollution from these dirt and waste is severe. Is it not? Do we have a good outlook regarding the cleanliness of our common environment? The wastes that we keep outside our flats in every morning could be halved if we have a better approach towards environmental cleanliness. Keeping the waste outside is not a proper way of waste management. We should reduce the waste as much as possible.
We should first cultivate a habit that the cleanliness of our locality is our responsibility. We should not expect the help of Government or the call of celebrities to cultivate this habit. (Is it not the way now?) If our locality is dirty and stinking, it is just because of us; no tourists come here to make this area unclean because Indirapuram is not a tourist destination. When there are simple lessons of environmental protection around us, why can’t we learn and implement them in our locality?
Can we plan a “waste-free Indirapuram” campaign with a vision to make Indirapuram free of all wastes?
It is quite important that we conduct a locality cleaning drive with the active participation of children and youth. It has meaning also because it passes a good message of maintaining cleanliness (साफ-सफाई और स्वच्छता) to the younger generation. The different RWAs can sit and decide appropriate cleaning programmes and can implement it on a holiday for 2-3 hours. This could be repeated every month or could be twice a month. How much time we are wasting before the TV or for shopping?
Implementing such mass programmes will also help in bringing back the good habits that once existed in our Indian societies. more

Dear Sumitji, as you have rightly pointed out Awareness needs to be made to all residents of Indirapuram by organizing programs. HOUSE VISITS may be a possible and fruitful program. Lot of clues / methods could be posted here for the knowledge of the members. Waste should be reduced at the source, I mean the HOUSES. If we deposit large amounts of money in our bank account, it will increase and increase. The same is true for waste in the surroundings. The more waste we create in our houses, the more is the waste in the locality. All vegetable wastes could be managed within the house if we go for kitchen gardening, which is catching up nowadays. We can reduce plastic bags if we can buy vegetables in bags that we carry from home. We should reuse the plastic bags till it becomes useless. Who will take care of such things? If residents respond in large numbers, we can sit and discuss the solutions. more

The main reason for the waste are the residents itself. I have found various residents who throw waste on reads instead of dustbins at their localities. The following measures needs to be taken : 1. Adequate Dustbins needs to be installed at every locality which needs to be cleared on daily basis. 2. Vehicles should be employed by GDA to collect waste on daily basis. 3. Awareness needs to be made to all residents of Indirapuram by organising programs. more

Good to see persons of eminence joining this discussion. I also see that 381(as of now) people have seen this appeal for a clean indirapuram. I request all of you who feel strongly about this issue to post a comment and not be just the silent majority. Being quiet and wishing that the conditions will improve on their own will just not happen! more

Dear Sanjeevji and Arunji and Ajayji, I am really encouraged by your response. I appreciate your stand that we stand for the cleanliness of our surroundings. As Sanjeevji has rightly pointed out, if all of the members in this circle had raised their thoughts, it could have been a boost for us to initiate some sort of action. Arunji has clearly written the problems with plastic bags. Still, I am of the view that we should be hopeful and should do our bit to demote plastics from daily use. Ajayji’s offer to apply his waste management knowledge for cleaning Indirapuram is also welcome. As Ajayji has said we need to sit, talk and chalk out a plan. I suggest that we wait for some more time for other members to raise their comments. Let us hope that the households will do something for a clean Indirapuram. more

Dear All i am from Jaipuria Sunrise Greens. We had implemented "Swatch Drive" & our RWA had taken special attention by keeping 2 staf of Housekeeping at Night SErvices. They are cleaning our surroundings and keeping the area clean. I had exepreince of 20 yrs in solid wate management & got included in this drive. Together we can do it fro indrapuram.
