Warranty Expiration by Default

There are many companies who sell high value products say above INR 1000 and on the product somewhere, not the box, they will publish a number or website saying that you must register within 10 days of purchase for warranty to be valid.

This is clear malpractice and since majority of the consumers may not even open the box or notice the stickers their warranty would be expired.

Can the consumer ministry issue clear warranty guidelines so such malpractices stop. more

There is no standard rule about warranty implementation. Hence , at the time of purchasing, we should study the warranty clause and should ask the seller about registering warranty. Generally for electronic goods it will be registered at the time of buying and for other items it may not be the case. Once we buy the product, don't expect a friendly gesture from the seller . So government should bring out rule to support the buyers, more  
You are correct. But what is the way out and how to book these companies. Government has no interest in such matters, unless there is a big hue and cry. more

Govt should think in the direction of allowing people posting about such bad-acts by companies so that people are educated act appropriate actions also taken at some levels. more  
Consumers need to unite and take up these companies to task more
