Vehicle Servicing Issues from Consumers

Issues raised by Consumers on Vehicle Servicing

1. Service Centers ask customers to change parts ahead of when needed to gain revenue and sales commissions
2. The availability of parts is an issue at many service centres
3. For many brands, the spares are not available outside the service centre
4. In many cases workers do not service the vehicle carefully and many problems are left unattended
5. Many service centres charge customers for Certified Service Engineers but the job is done by non-certified engineer, which makes a big difference
6. The performance of the vehicle remains compromised even after getting it serviced from company service centres
7. If the can requires 4 litres of engine oil, the service centre only puts in 3.5 litres and charges the customer for the entire 4 litres
8. Unless you refer a specific issue, service centers will not bother do any check-ups on their own. more

Have been told by some people working at even authorised service centers that they are required to ensure that a customer be made to pay as much as possible even if this requires replacement of good parts. Besides, a number of reputed service centers buy such parts from local venders, which may be substandard, but charge for genuine parts. more  
- Companies' authorised service centres do resort to cheat the customers by charging for works/spare parts not actually done/changed; - The service centres generally exceed the probable expenses they quote in the beginning on the pretext of one or other and the vehicle owners do not have any option but to pay. more  
Dishonest of service centres cannot be cured easily . more  
When NGT, a Government of India organisation, can order that no car that has completed fifteen (15) years will be allowed on roads and it has to be compulsorily scrapped irrespective of its condition on technical parameters such as road worthiness and pollutants from the car what is wrong if manufacturers and service providers recommend replacement of components after a particular time enhancing the availability of vehicle. In case of component replacement car owner has an option to deny replacement but on the hand NGT does not want to analyse the facts of life. more
