Use of Cassia alert

Just read in today's paper that
70 per cent of Ayurveda drugs are supposed to contain cinnamon. However, a substantial part of this might be cassia, which is much cheaper and easily available.

It also says import and retail of Cassia has been banned by FSSAI in Nov 16 as it creates health problems such as kidney /liver damages and even cancer.

Can FSSAI please share on weekly or monthly basis any items like this that they ban for consumer use. Awareness for such things will be great help now that we have this platform. more

The problem is that the moment somebody says Ayurveda everybody jumps into bandwagon.. they person says I went to himalayas blah blah and everybody is ready to purchase... The truth is ayurveda is a science and it requires proper diagnosis and the medical practitioner gives a combination of the medicine studying the physiology of a patient which is unique to him since I come from a state which is famous for ayurveda.. Hence it cant be bought off shelf to my knowledge I know famous brands do that its commercialization. of course very common and simple ailments can have probably some off the shelf combination Unless real true practitioners get together and form some kind of regulatory framework / guidelines I think we can be misled. we cannot let the commercialized ayurveda clinics do this since its just mass production more
Shri Sahani ji - I was sharing the crux of what I have read Kindly refer to the article by New Indian Express below. I was able to find the same online and I am sharing link for everyone's perusal. http://www.newindianexpress.com/business/2017/feb/25/cancer-causing-chinese-cinnamon-lookalike-imported-in-huge-quantities-rti-1574465.html more
please note that whenever you purchase any snacks please see for calories if it is on higher side better avoid it that is our requirement is 1400 - 1500 cals / day total requirement over which will lead to mainly diabates which is sufficient to create more disease problems so you can decide how much snacks you can take better to forget about junk foods can be taken monthly once don't bother much about FSSAI they can tell about standards but health wise let us try to be standard with our traditional foods more
We regularly use cinnamon and is used for tea masala and as condiments in food preparation Sometimes cinnamon is quite pungent and some other time its not. Can somebody say how to differentiate between the two. more
