Uplifting the plight of Senior Citizens.

The plight of Senior Citizens in India is very bad and they are forsaken by their wards or kith & kin. In respect of Sr.citizens having some property, the wards (sons/daughters) or those who are liable to take care Elders, they are taken away by wards etc by hook or crook first and after some time they drive elderly or ill-treat elders so that they themselves run away from home. In many cases such elders are taken in bus/train etc and drop them in bus stand/railway station, Beach, market places, temple festival places with the knowledge of elders. Thus these elders are becoming orphans. These people need protection.
Secondly, the condition of pension drawing Elders are also not good. These pensioners are dependent on their caretakers even for withdrawing from bank account, banking transactions etc as they are physically unable to move about. In such cases the elders are cheated. In many cases, in the pretext of taking care of elders, the caretakers/wards stay either with them or keep elderly couples in separate portions in same house etc, but the caretakers never take care the welfare of elders. They enjoy the money /property etc at the expense of Elders cost. In many cases the pensioners are deprived of money even to buy their drugs. To safeguard the following is required:
1.A Senior Citizens Welfare Organisation should be formed at All India level and brought under the Ministry.
2.The Elders are to be classified as a) No Pension Elders + oldage Govt.pensioners, b) Private & Govt. Pension (State & Center) drawing Elders who draw a moderate pension which is not more than to meet hand and mouth.
3.These Sr.Citizens could be provided with I.D.CARDS which will enable them to get the benefit of discount in Buses, Trains, Essential Drugs, and specified Groceries not more than certain amount.
4.The ID Cards should enable the Pensioners to Get medical Insurance benefits and Hospital benefits without difficult.
The ID Card could be provided with link to Aadhar Card.
The Elders are one foot before the grave and any help done to them will go a long way in the long run. more

In a meeting at CanSupport in Delhi yesterday, it was horrifying to listen to tales of how children leave their aged parents at the gates of NGOs, some times even tied to the gate with a rope. Because they do not want to look after the parents. Such NGOs are running on donations, including support from the local governments. more

Well we all need to face reality of life and not part with the property without providing for self and dependent. Care is only game which can work in life, without giving in to emotional black mails any time There is reverse mortgage facility also available form most banks these days, where the seniors can pledge the property and get monthly money from the bank, which the beneficiary will require to pay bank, for getting possession of the property, and this can be used by the seniors easily There is Senior citizen registration done by most police stations, to keep watch on you with periodic visits by Police to your place as well Please take care and stay fit more
Govts to amend Laws resting lifelong utilization rights of property by Karta, the Sr. Citizen. This Saves maximum more
People should be educated to know that price should not be the only consideration at the time of purchasing an item. Quality of the product is, in the long run, the most important ingredient. In this way we may be able to reject products from China. Most importers from China bring only cheap products and many consumers think that this is probably the best product available. more
