UP plastic Ban details
from today in UP the use and manufacture of polythene of less than 50 micron would invite a penalty ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 lakh and imprisonment up to a maximum of 6 months.
The ban will be imposed in phases. The use of banned polythene for the first time will invite a penalty of Rs 1,000 or imprisonment up to one month. The violation for the second time will see the term of imprisonment increasing up to six months or penalty ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000.
Those found manufacturing, storing or transport of banned polythene or plastic bag for the first time will invite imprisonment up to six months or penalty from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The violation of ordinance for the second time will invite imprisonment of one year or penalty up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh. more

It is a welcome decision and its implementation should be done in strict manner... It is good for environment, drainage system and animals life more

THIS IS LIKE PUTTING THE KART BEFORE THE HORSE. TAKING A HARSH DECISION IS OK BUT GOVT SHOULD HAVE MADE ALTERNATIVES ARRANGEMENT. TODAY ALL ONIONS POTATOES AND OTHER VEGETABLES ARE SUPPLIED TO BIG MANDIS LIKE AZADPUR MANDI IN DELHI. THESE COULD BE FIRST SUPPLIED IN JUTE SACKS WHICH WAS THE PRACTICE IN GOOD OLDEN DAYS. JUTE INDUSTRY IN INDIA WAS " KILLED " BY PROPAGATING PLASTIC SACKS. LET THE JUTE INDUSTRY BE REVIVED BY HEAVY SUBSIDIES AND PROACTIVE MEASURES. ONCE THE INDUSTRY RETAKES ITS BIRTH AND PLASTIC SACKS ARE ELIMINATED PAN INDIA BASIS; THEREAFTER PLASTIC BAGS OF HIGHER KG WEIGHT ie MORE THAN 5 KG CARRYING CAPACITY SHOULD BE PANNED PAN INDIA BASIS. ONCE THIS IS ACHIEVED, THEN ALL LOWER CAPACITY POLYTHENE BAGS SHOULD BE BANNED ON PAN INDIA BASIS. DURING THE INTERVENING PERIOD INDUSTRY WILL THINK OF MAKING DAILY CARRYING BAGS. AFTER ALL HELL WILL NOT FALL DURING NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS. WE HAVE ALLOWED THE SITUATION DETERIORATE FOR LAST MORE THAN 30 YEARS. LET IT BE 2 MORE YEARS FOR TRANSITION PERIOD more

Good decesion of Govt. by banning Production 99% sucess . I do not agree with Shri Anil & Shri Dharam Pal atleast Govt. started thinking Positive, Actually we ourself are always on negative side & do not want to contribute positive that is the reason Govt. has to take hard decesion. more

Welcome this decision but without proper alternative arrangements it cannot be implemented. This is just like other orders of government of U.P.like permission for Bada Mangal in Lucknow, License for tobaco sellors etc; without realising ground realaties simply issueing orders. Lucknow city is filled with a lot of garbages walking on road become very difficlut due to foul smell, Officers must interact with public and moove out of AC Cabins, VVIPs & VIPs must moove as a common person to understand all this. Modiji & Yogiji are ok, whatabout chutput netas and corrupted Officers ? more

A laudable and much needed rule. Although many of us are accustomed to this convenient but environment-hostile polythene, we will have to change our habits and carry a bag , so that we can leave something good for our next environment . more
