Ultra Processed Foods

Ultra-processed foods go through substantial industrial processing and contain a long list of ingredients on the packet. Typically, they have colour- and taste- enhancers, preservatives and sweeteners.

Ultra-processed foods you must keep away from: sausages, hamburgers, breakfast bars and cereals, instant noodles and soups, sugary fizzy drinks, cakes, chocolates, ice creams and pizzas.

Consumption of these foods leads to obesity, heart ailments and increases risk of cancer.

40-50% of a middle class or higher income category child is these foods. They are highly addictive. more

In these days more or less every one of us is aware, particularly the educated and upper class and so called upper middle class people, about the after affects of these food items. Still these groups of people are the main consumers of these items and comparatively they're the major stake holders of obesity and other diseases, as stated. Other middle class and lower income group people does not have enough buying capacity of these (luxurious) items and they suffer less from obesity and other diseases. I think most of the consumers are attracted to these food items to escape from making healthy and delicious foods at home without giving a thought on after affects. more
It has become a status symbol to consume ultra processed food. It saves time & labour of consumers. This cannot be stopped. more
To expect consumers - adults and children - to totally abstain from these foods is asking too much. Eating good, delicious food is an important component of Living. More so for children growing up. The objective is to control consumption of these processed items and ensure a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, cereals, lentils and meats as the main calorie providers. more
