Trap of TRAI for channel selection is for the benefit of Operators and loss to consumer

The recent scheme of TRAI asking viewer to choose desired channels and pay for those channels only is nothing but a gimmick for cheating viewers and public at large.

We are watching lowest package of DTH cable TV at Rs 350- per month at present and with the new scheme, if I were to choose even part of these channels, I will be paying minimum of Rs 650- or more, so what is the benefit.

Even the minimum package with small selection of channels will cost me more then Rs 350- per month, and I will end up watching less then half the channels only, so is this scheme for benefit of viewers or on operators only, as there is no benefit to the viewers/ public at all
Kindly check the calculations, including service charges of operators, which are also very high
Thanks

I feel, there is a basic problem in the whole idea. The first 100 channels, priced @ Rs 130/- +GST still remains the choice of the Operator. In this, we are forced to take the channels, we may not be able to enjoy at all. For example; a North Indian may not be able to understand a channel in South Indian Language or vice-versa. Any customer should have the freedom to select First 100 channels from at least 300 channels, which may include about 10 national (DD) channels. This system is no doubt, not in the interest of the consumers. I would request TRAI to kindly review the same. more
I'm fully in agreement with Mr.NK Somani. It's actually a loot officially. Even though, prima facie,. It looks like the TRAI has fixed the rates in favour of consumers but it's not so. It's high time to bring to the notice of govt or else we the consumers continue to suffer financially. more
When a package of say Zee channel at Rs 39/- pm is offered,I may not like to see many regional language channels, and that is being thrusted on me. more
Kindly Refer the TRAI press Release(POINT No-5) more
TRAI Press release dated 10.01.2019, Point No. 5 is misleading. I have tried to select 99 no. channels, which price is showing 363 rupees. more
TRAI Press Release [dated 10.01.2019] (Point No. - 5) and TRAI 'FAQs on New Regulatory Framework for Broadcasting and Cable TV services' [Documents No. E1.3, update 08.01.2019] Question no. 10 are contradictory. I think, if TRAI press release is true, then answer of Question no. 10 on FQAs needs to modify. more
Instead of making it a complex exercise, announce 3bundle packages for Hindi speaking / English speaking and Janta pack at 100/- per month. more
