TRAI norms and DTH

The purpose of bringing in new TRAI norms for all DTH platforms seems illogical.
I used to get the channels of my choice before this illogical dictum came into force at ₹ 710/- per month, but post TRAI (Totally Ridiculous And Idiotic) norms many channels have been shut off. On enquiry I was asked to access the site and make my own selection of channels. I was shocked to know that in order to view the channels I was viewing previously I have to pay ₹ 1230/-. How stupid and illogical? Did TRAI interfere with the pricing of DTH providers to benefit the customer or the increase the income of the providers?
Kindly roll back this dubious policy and free the customers from being fleeced & literally taking them for a ride. more

I've commented it elsewhere too, and I would like to repeat the same here on this platform as well: 1. Earlier, you could run a maximum of four TV sets on ONE subscription. Unlimited channels were offered by the service provider for a price. 2. Today, you've got to choose the channels you wish to view. Every channel has a price. Many of these are also FREE. 3. Your bill will amount to the total price of all "priced" channels that you choose, plus Rs.153 per TV set. Means, that for four sets you'll pay 4 x 153 = Rs.612 as kind of rental. Added to that you pay for the selected channels. Understandable, that you bill-value will increase. It's a simple arithmetics, folks ! more

We, as citizens, are hapless since TRAI's redressal of grievances is around 2%. This recent order by TRAI is infructuous. The increase in this scenario is due to grouping of channels by both cable operators and channel providers. Since the diferent channels are grouped differently, viewers for forced to select more groups and thus ending up paying enhanced cost. Government and TRAI need to relook this and rectify the same, may be people revolution will force them to do this. more
DEAR RAMESH BABU,our suggestion will be to get guidance from the NATIONAL HELP LINE FOR THE CONSUMERS 1600 11 4000.You may also get in touch with the TRAI.writing to the editors of leading NEWS PAPERS will be of some help.We must keep on nailing these crafty, profit only minded Business Houses. With kind regards.BN DAS more
TRAI has not applied their mind in this issue, now we see advertisements asking us to bond with the cable guys. Wonder what next the TRAI would like us to do. TRAI has received some gratification from the cable guys for this move. We are paying more for watching less number of channels. The channels which are free to air also has to be renewed frequently as it is shut down by the operator (TATA SKY in my case) and have to remind them to restart it almost on a daily basis. more
