Theaters not passing benefits of reduced GST rate

Prasads Imax in Hyderabad did not reduce the price of tickets and continued charging Rs 150 for screens 1 to 5 and Rs 250 for screen-6, thereby denying the benefit of reduction in tax rate to moviegoers.

The government has reduced GST on entry ticket which cost more than Rs 100. GST was reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. Where the entry ticket price is equal or less than Rs 100, the GST rate was reduced from 18 per cent to 12 per cent.

Everyone must be careful with this and raising hell when benefits are not passed. as it is they charge a bomb on popcorn and water bottle/sodas. more

GST implementation specially when it is revised for a lesser rate must be checked by authorities. more
When rate increases, corporate increase immediately. Take time to reduce it or increase the input cost. So hard to transfer benefit to customer. more
Looking at the issues facing the gst implementation govt should then also mention from which date this will be applicable to remove the anamoly more
It is because the GST council is not in a position to timely impose the rule or guidelines, nor able take action. more
