The right way of taking Homeopathy medicine

I used to take some homeopathy medicines when I was a kid and I couldn't keep up with all the restrictions that come with homeopathy. Now that I am connected to some of the best homeopaths in Delhi, I want to find out how many of those restrictions are really needed to make the medicine effective. Here are the restrictions that were suggested to me by the homeopath in my little town:

1) Don't eat or drink anything 15 minutes before and 15 mins after the medicine

2) Don't drink coffee. Don't eat raw onion.

How strict do we need to be with these restrictions and are there others? Thank you :) more

No restrictions as such.....If it is the right medicine it will work ..even if you take it with onion....if not properly prescribed......it wont even with all restrictions....Go ahead and enjoy life even with homoeo meds...... more
Mr. Jain, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much! more
dear Shivani, The point here is if you follow restrictions as per book of homeopathy it is fine but if restrictions makes you to avoid/skip/averse to homeopathy medicine it will be better to take medicines as you like, at least the medication goes into your body and cures you. It does not mean at all that if restrictions are not followed these medicines will not work. that it the essence of my real story. and Mind you the real story was under supervision of a Gold medalist homeopathy doctor in Bajaj Nagar, Jaipur. Dr. T.P.Yadav 1995 batch Nagar more
Ok. So 2 people saying - no restrictions and a homeopathic consultant saying that the restrictions are there and with the logic given, it does make sense.. So, who should I believe now :) more
Homoeopathic medicines start working from the mouth itself unlike Allopathic and Ayurvedic medicines which start their action once they reach the stomach - that is why there is restriction of not eating anything for 15 minutes after and prior to taking these medicines. Also since raw onions and coffee have a strong odour along with certain other food items , these are generally restricted b y Homoeopaths ; coffee is also antidote to many Homoeopathic medicines. However if you wish to consume such food articles while on Homoeopathic treatment, please make sure that there is a gap of about 1 hr. between the food and medicine intake and rinse your mouth with normal water before taking the dose. In acute cases though, you are reqd. to take doses frequently - so you need not worry much about timings of food in such cases. Some food items are antidotes to particular medicines or hamper the action of the medicine - in such case the doctor may advice you to stop a particular food item for the course of treatment with that particular medicine. It would be wise to adhere to such restrictions for your own benefit - eg. stopping onion , milk etc. as may be the case. more
