The looters in auot dealerships

Everyone is talking about how auto companies are saying they will cuts 5 lakh jobs etc etc. Today when I visited a dealership and asked questions, it seems after sales business is totally down. Most customers are now servicing cars every 15,000 or 20,000 km instead of every 5000 or 10000 km. Big loss of revenues. Many customers even are preferring to service vehicles outside to keep costs down save on GST, labour etc.

these dealerships for long have made 60-80% margins on parts and people have just not asked too many questions. they must mend their ways or many dealerships will close and many of us wont miss a beat. more

Main problem is when you go for service to a place other than service center the spares used by them are not geniun as the companies do not provide spares to them. They obtain from the salvaged cars or the duplicate. Thus it becomes mandatory for the person to take his car to the service center only more
I completely endorse your point of view. Its not only the Auto Industry but all the Industries. Today you take any product the distribution cost of any product at 60-90% over above the basic cost of the product. Moreover the Industries like the Real Estate Industry has around 3000-5000% margins Similarly the pharmaceutical Industry-has around 200-300% margins. Advocating high margins by the Trade and Industry in India has ruined the whole economy. Surprisingly, however the Indian Trade and Industry is almost 5000 years old but the Chinese Industry has largely prospered during the past three decades. The Indian Trade and Industry have lost their own domestic market to the Chinese but the Chinese have captured the World market. That is the area of differences because ofbthe difference in ideology to ne followed y the UN Ambassador. more
Yes. I agree with the observations. But my point is that it is the owner of the car who takes the considered decision regarding servicing or repairs once the free service period by the car dealer is over. When the car is new say for a couple of years we generally go for comprehensive insurance and servicing only at the authorised stations. This does not mean that the customers can be taken for a ride until our mindset changes and we bump across a decent workshop . more
