Temple Prasad Safety

10 days back , around 100 devotees at a temple in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district consumed contaminated prasad and had to be hospitalised. 15 of them have died. Recent reports suggest that the substance the prasadam was contaminated with is an insecticide called Monocrotophos.

I thought I read in this circle that FSSAI had sough inputs to ensure temple prasad making was certified, like restaurant certification.

If that not being enforced or just this temple didnt care to follow rules. more

I think all type of prasad should be dry type. This will reduce contamination. It can dry fruits, mishri, chana mungfali, murmura etc. more
FSSAI , WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE IN THIS CASE AS THE DRUG CONTROL AUTHORITY CHECKS PHARMA COMPANY FACTORIES , WHERE SAMPLES FOR EACH BATCH IS SENT TO THE dRUG CONTROLLER , AND IT IS KEPT AFTER CHECKING FOR QUALITY AND QUANTITY . Here in this case it is not possible to seal the checked Prasadam , even after checking the perpetrators can mix a small bowl of the poison . Anyway this is is the first incidence of poisoning , hope it will will be put down forcefully to see that no one else follows suite . more
Ashima Gupta has asked certain clarification/query to answer. The discussion may be limited to that more
I have not understood the meaning of writing it here what Mr R N Stephen has written more
The FSSAI had mandated food processing at temples under its scrutiny. ALL temples must register under the FSSAACT more
