Suggestion on Additives

I am from Bangalore and pleased to see the food regulator engaging with us. after all food is very important, esp for those of us home makers who see issues regularly. I want to take Mr. Jindals comment and I feel that any packaged foods that have "additives with side effects" should be marked like:

Has Sachhrain for use by Diabetics, which has side effects.

Right now many cakes, pastries, candies, cholcolates, chewing gum, ice candies are having such additives and we are blindly consuming.

Just like ciggerates, these products should be marked and if not marked then they cannot be used. Please let us have discussion on this.

The manufacturers are attracting the customers by various chemical process in foods, which are not good for health. The government supervision on such products is virtually zero, unless there is serious hazards. more
Manufacturers are promoting the sale of Sucralose (SugarFree), and people are blindly using it. Sucralose disturbs the normal flora of the intestines. This can lead to Cancer of the colon. We should encourage the public to consume natural products like jaggery instead of sugar and sugarfree. Government and NGOs should strive to educate people to keep away from such synthetic products. more
