Stubble top cause of pollution - NASA

Our assessment that Punjab stubble is number 1 cause of Delhi NCR pollution is right on. Yday. NASA's earth observatory has claimed that the crop fires in Punjab and Haryana have contributed to a sharp deterioration of air quality in November and December. The earth observatory said that geography and weather also deteriorate Delhi's air quality. As of November 16, NASA's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) had detected more than 74,000 hotspots in Punjab.

High time Central Govt stops all healthcare funding to Punjab and used it to open more hospitals like AIIMS in Delhi where us and our next generations can go seek assistance for issues described in the survey more

There are so many agencies at state and national levels in the Governments as also private sector. Why can not we have credible statistics on which elements cause pollution in Delhi and how much pollution each of these elements cause rather than leave it to different assessments and make it a controversial debating point by all and sundry including NASA more
Would appreciate any economically viable and feasible solution, which could be adopted by farmers rather than suggesting penal action without any solution. more
Stubble burning has been started in last 15 years only, earlier paddy was cut from soil root and rice was extracted by hitting dry plant on a rock stone. It is recently only farmers started firing the remains. more
Stubble burning has been getting the attention while the reason could be also having increasingly internal combustion engine cars running on diesel, coal burning in thermal plants and dust due to construction. Photochemical analysis of the smog would show up the heavy metals present being the same as those present in the cruder variety fossil fuels, diesel being one. Pollution all the year round, then how come we just put this on farmers! more
The same procedure of stubble burning used to take place even 50 years ago, but one never faced the excessive pollution problem earlier? Why so? Even the adjacent villages, where the stubble was burnt, never faced this problem. Any explanation please? more
