Stay away from disposables
There are reports that some people had wax in stomach as a result of using disposable paper cups which are generally coated with a layer of wax.
When very hot liquids (tea coffee milk) are poured over a disposable cup, the paper cups wax may disintegrate and a little comes off, which will promptly be sent along with the drink into our stomachs! While our body can discard minor amounts, over the long-term, it does become a problem.
Is FSSAI or bis having standards for such cups and is wax part of it? Then it should say - dont use for hot liquids. more

Would be then best to resort to using glass cups or carry your own cup. According to an expert paper cups do have a wax coating, but this is not harmful. Not all paper or plastic products are created equal, so any contaminates would depend on the country of origin and, of course, the quality control in manufacturing. more

I agree with Mr. Brij Gupta and do not agree with Mr. Sridhar Mohan. Had somebody done investigation to link wax in stomach with wax on disposable items? I wonder whether persons having wax in stomach had ever used disposables. Therefore, Mr. Mohan should not spread rumors without knowing full facts and scientific basis. All wax have a melting point and will not melt below that. All wax do not solubilize in water and most of the non-organic solvents. We drink only non-organic liquids in disposables, so there are hardly any chances of wax on disposables going inside our body. I request all members to please take care and avoid circulation of unfounded rumors. more
