A full fledged colony for serving offocers has been developed near the Palam Rly Stn in the Cantt.Officers have moved in and living for more than 6 months,but there is no MTNL line pr nay private telephone company having its network operational in the area. @ Jitender: This is normal in other countries also. If you take a prepaid card, just have someone (or you can do it on the net) charge it with a small amount, keep the number valid. more  
Some changes need to be made about the phone numbers being scrapped, when there is no response on that phone number of visiting NRIs. I visit India every year for few months. When I leave India and come back after few months, my phone number is no longer valid and some times it has been given to some other person; and I need to go through the process of obtaining a new number. This way what ever number I give to my contacts on my one trip, is no longer valid in my next trip. more
