Some important information about some foods

There are some foods which should not be reheated or stored and should preferably be taken same day when cooked, here are some:
1. Potato: Potatoes are very useful because they have many health benefits. However, those benefits and their dietary quality are lost if you don’t eat them the same day that you’ve cooked them. Eating them on another day and reheating them makes them dangerous for your body, instead of useful.
2. Rice : According to the Food Standards Agency, "Uncooked rice can contain spores of bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive...Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will multiply and may produce poisons that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these poisons."
3. Mushrooms : It is known that mushrooms are the most important food that shouldn’t be warmed up. In general mushrooms should be eaten right after preparation. If you want to eat them the next day, be sure to consume them cold. If not, they can cause digestive problems and additional heart problems.
4. Spinach : You ought to never warm the spinach on the grounds that it is exceptionally unsafe thing to do. It is prescribed to eat it directly after readiness. The thing is spinach contains high rate of nitrates which transform into nitrites when warmed. This is carcinogenic to the body. more

I also wish to add here that in some parts of Andhra Pradesh (and may be in other southern states too) remaining cooked rice after dinner of the family is put in an earthen pot and water is added to it and is kept covered. This soaked rice along with the water is given to the kids as breakfast with some curds or butter milk and some pickle. This is believed to provide a healthy digestive bacteria and the entire population of those areas are very healthy and robust and are very intelligent too! This is also a staple food for the labors and the agriculturists who work very hard in the fields. This is called " Taravani Annam". I am not sure if any scientific studies have been conducted on this method of meals. This has stood the test of times for decades as far as I know. more  
Chander Prakash ji, in which chapter and shloka of Bhagwad Gita, it is said that cooked food should be eaten within 48 minutes??? It is a misquote and would request friends not to please misquote any great spiritual book like Gita. It only describes what is Saatvic, Rajasik and Tamsik food in detail in chapter 17. more  
I agree with Durga Prasad Ji. This is the practice in most of the Indian families. But Bhagwad Gita says cooked food should be eaten within 48 minutes and definitely not after 3 hours. Ayurveda also says re-heating food should not be done. Yes, most of us are seems to be hale and hearty, but we do not know, what is happening inside us. Due to ignorance and due to change times, we are accepting our own methods and are happy with it and ready for consequences too. more  
As per certain scientific studies it is understood that if vegetable kept around +5deg C , provision such as potatos and various other items at around +12 deg c , fish meet etc (minus) - 25 deg C , for quite some time it will retain its quality. It will give good result if we eat cooked food immediately in taste and otherwise .However ,while we cook, most of its vitamins etc lose .If we cook slightly , quality will be better than fully cooked .If we eat raw it will give the best effect .But we are not habitual of it .When we mix various type of spices together many of them react adversely and continuous consumption will result in various abnormality and sickness .As it is happening slowly we are unaware of it .Hence to make healthy citizen, there should be separate scientific investigation to study the entire process of making and consuming food .This will teach us what sort spices should be mixed and not mixed ,how our food should be cooked and it should be taken .By this way , perhaps we will find a world with healthy citizens with comparatively free of much sickness what we see today . more
