Sales of Shelf Life Expired Products - Inputs Needed

We would like to seek your inputs on instances where a retailer/chemist/business/website is selling products that are shelf life expired. If you see such examples, please share the same.

This will help us understand at a macro level in what industries such issues exist and if there are any brands/organizations that are consistently engaging in such practices.

We look forward to your inputs! more

there are multiple small grocery stores which never bother to check which items have gone past their expiry dates Depite having computerized inventory tracklng system.

I have had experiences where the product was already expired on the day i bought it. the next time also it was the same sob story but when approached, the management made it look like 'oh! now how did we miss that?' and changed my item. had i not noticed it then i would have got the expired one. one such example is Olive Street store in DDA Market, Neeti bagh, New Delhi - 49; they sold me Amul milk and dabur lemoneez after the expiry dates; when confronted they changed the un-opened packs but if i had not noticed then i would have been fleeced.

are there any laws against selling expired products? and if so, how can one prove that the product bought from the shop is the same in question? [this is easy in case of medicines since they put the batch number and expiry date on the bill always; but grocery items have no such safeguard. most stores don't scan the product bar-code and the ones that do do not put any details of the product on the bill]. more

THERE ARE SOME REPUTED SHOPS WHICH SELL ALL EXPIRED PRODUCTS AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE AND THE POOR CONSUMERS BUY THIS THINKING THAT THEY ARE GETTING THE PRODUCTS AT A BARGAIN . THIS ALSO HAS TO STOP. more
I toe the line of Sanjeev Bhatnagar. Yes, the details of MRP, D/o Manufacture, Expiry, etc should be in bold and bigger fonts and at clear visible place of the pack. more
