Delivering Skill India - Key Solutions
1. State Governments should make concrete plans to push skill enhancement
2. Systematic plans should be made by the Government to invest in R&D in skill development
3. Funds should be diverted from giveaways, subsidies towards R&D, Innovation & Technology
4. Each state should set up a skill development school
5. The existing Government skill enhancement programs should be revamped
6. It must be made compulsory for the schools to adapt to practical learning from the formative classes
7. Skill enhancement institutes should be set up in Public Private Partnership
8. NGOs could be invited to set up modern workshops to generate quality skilled labour
9. The trainers should be appointed after rigorous tests and interviews and should have enough practical knowledge themselves
10. The syllabus of the ITIs should be modernized with focus on practical learning
11. Existing ITIs and Polytechnics should be modernised
12. The ITI trainers should be made accountable for producing a skilled work force
13. Universities should work more closely with industries and inculcate industrial visits and trainings in their curriculum
14. The recognition norms of colleges and universities should be strictly enforced
15. Colleges/universities found flouting the norms should be strictly penalized and their affiliation should be revoked
16. Big industrial houses should be encouraged to open centres for skill development
17. Industrial houses should be given income tax exemption for opening such centres in backward states, from where large scale migration has taken place
18. Syllabus’ should be re-evaluated to get rid of obsolete text books and technology
19. Students should be taught on fixing "modern and latest" gadgets not old system
20. Students should be taught to handle modern & latest power tools not traditional hand tools
21. Vocational training schools should be started for drop outs and those who want to go or self-employment in agriculture, services, industries after 10th
22. Training can be made a "learn while you earn system" initiated by the by Government and run by the industry. more
