Should the Toll roads culture in India be removed, since it would be the basic infrastructure services and it is the right of all citizens to get this basic necessity of good roads

The contracts issued for roads construction allow the option to collect toll from public. Why is this required since citizens have already paid necessary taxes, vehicles have already paid all possible taxes. Is'nt this unfair? Also, there is no clear indication of how much money was collected via tools. more

Toll is public financing the project though government lend the funds. more
The national highways are being constructed with the government fund, if the government did not repay the invested amount to the investor then the debt for the government would increase. If the toll are used to get a fund few get the employment opportunity, the investor can take back their fund so that government can make the investor to invest in the other state national high ways project. We question about big investments but leave the retail shops who actually play a big name during flood and raising the cost of the product. Those shops are many and why bills related to this are not being designed or taken into discussion. A retail shop owner who keeps a big margin do not pay tax and they are able to purchase even 2 houses of high value with in a period of 5-10 years. Who will check this. Toll bills government income which will be used for the public welfare where as the retail shop income is individuals who cares for it??? more
Tolls pay for the roads. The total amount to be collected to cover the cost of the relevant section of the road should be shown on a board at the toll booth, and the total collection should be updated weekly on that board. Also the contractors who build the road should be bound to repair the road for at least 5 years. That will prevent shoddy workmanship and sub standard materials. A portion of the total amount of payment should be held back and released in 5 yearly instalments - after inspecting the road. To be fair, the Govt should pay interest on the delayed payments. more
Yes. we should fight against toll road culture. more
