Service Providers evading GST

Millions of small service providers who say do monthly services sales of say 3 lakhs to 20 lakhs (beauty parlour/saloon, auto services, ac repairs, caterers) are simply evading gst by doing cash transaction.

They dont give receipts. Most consumers are so stretched anyways they also save 18%

What's the solution Govt has for this? more

GST implementation is going to take time....slowly the govt will catch up with all the evaders. But crooks exist everywhere and unfortunately we as citizens are part of the corruption that is a disease that is killing our country and economy. It is not GST that is killing our economy but corrupt practices. If you as a responsible citizen see a vendor evading taxes let the govt know - if each citizen does their bit we will help our country come out of this disease that is consuming us whole. more
By nature, we feel proud in cheating Govt on TAXES. And we are smart enough to think of innovative ways to avoid payment of Taxes, legally or illegally. And corrupt Govt machinery is always willing to help. more
Government should launch a portal where consumers can upload the details of service provider or goods supplier such as his GST no., bill no. , value of services or goods, date of bill, tax etc. and that should cross checked either through system or in some cases where through system is not possible randomly, manually can be verified and if any service provider or goods supplier had done the any mischief , a heavy penalty should be imposed & on repeat of such instance, the penalty amount can be increased and also the person who uploaded the such information should be suitably rewarded. more
FILING OF RETURNS SHOULD BE EASY AND UNDERSTANDABLE BY EVERY ONE. THE RECENT LAUNCH OF TNVAT RETURNS ARE EASILY USEBALE BY ANY TRADER. I WOULD REQUEST THE COUNCIL TO LOOK INTO IT more
I have a different view. The Govt should have an action plan in place to support such traders or manufacturers not only in the form of finanacial assistance but in technology and management advise as well and that must be well documented and published and will be available only those who comply with regulatory requirements. I am sure most will come up to register and will comply with regulatory requirements. This will help our Govt in better planning and budgeting. Today our Govt’s attitude is pay taxes as long as you earn and once you are retired no body ask for him/her. This attitude of the authority need to be changed. Every person born in this country has equal right on the resources and any reservation in whatever manner is injustice. If we give our resources in the hands of those who are eligible selected by means of competitive procedures I am sure every person in our country will be living in happy and peaceful manner. Thanks more
There was a time, when people went fir ACs called as 'assembled ACs' as they were cheaper because excuse duty etc were not there for those 'assembled' products. Quality also was a problem. But, people looking at only cheap prices went for these. Slowly due to change in laws, now these are not available. Now in a similar way AC units are serviced or repairs by the same companies/ service technicians. The cost, CHEAPER. Quality of service? I leave it to you for your answer! Again, no taxes here. But most of the authorised 'sales and service dealers' do not and can nit do such services. They pay taxes. Quality? If you are aware of it, I need nit say anything here. But if you are nit aware, try it and then share your experience here, please. I agree, a few dealers are still finding ways to continue the old practice, and you suited. There is another dimension to this issue: Some clients, who own multiple AC units in their homes, avail of AMC or IMC services from the dealers, BUT FOR LESS THAN THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF UNITS THEY POSSESS. And when the 'other' product fails they lodge a complaint with the dealer and make the technician visit. There they tell him the real story and inside on repair for 'that' product paying cash at a cheaper price! You may suffer latter, but the dealer suffers truly. Like life insurance AMC, or at least IMC is better here. But people are prepared to spend more money for outings etc, and try to save money by not going for AMC etc, though all ACs need regular service. A by product of this practice is, dealers loosing technicians as after a few months or years all technicians start earning this way. Though the happenings can be extended to the results appearing because buying a product from such authorised dealers or RETAILERS, I am not touching that subject, as it is beyond the range of the question raised here. For service, always go to authorised dealers, and not that neighborhood AC shop in the corner. I am happy that a question has been raised this way, where all get benefiited, you, the dealer, and the govt. You may ask, is that technician not affected? My answer us, NO. Ater he understands the importance of question raised by you, and how his life is going to be affected in the long run, he MAY continue working, till he he reaches a level of understanding and becomes at least an authorised SERVICE dealer, if not a "sales and service dealer Yes, changes are happening, and I am happy in every way. more
