Making It Better for Senior Citizens (Key Issues)

1. There is no uniform age criteria of 60 years for Senior Citizens for being eligible for all concessions.
2. Senior citizens are not digital friendly; many of them don’t know how to use phone and computer.
3. Many children don’t care for their old parents.
4. There are no ‘social security schemes’ for senior citizens in India.
5. Medical facilities aren’t being provided to the senior citizens at affordable cost.
6. Income tax exemption is very low for senior citizens.
7. Interest on FDs for senior citizens is low.
8. Senior citizens don’t have general insurance policies at affordable cost.
9. There aren’t enough foot over bridges, elevators or zebra crossings to enable senior citizens cross busy roads.
10. Private companies do not provide pension facility to their retired employees.
11. Present medical insurance system for senior citizens is very complicated.
12. Robbery and murder cases are increasing against elderly citizens.
13. In metro cities, senior citizens do not have enough parks and open grounds to walk.
14. There is lack of well-equipped old age homes at affordable price.
15. Nuclear family system has no place for senior citizens. more

Friends, HIGH COURT OF KERALA LETTER DATED 17-10-2017 STATES THAT CASES INVOLVING SENIOR CITIZENS WILL HENCEFORTH BE ACCORDED "TOP PRIORITY" FOR EARLY DISPOSAL. THIS WAS IN CONSIDERATION OF MY DETAILED REPRESENTATIONS DATED 28-01-2017 AND 06-03-2017 , TO THE MOST HON'BLE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA , WHO FORWARDED THE ORDER TO THE MINISTER OF LAW AND JUSTICE, HON'BLE RAVI SHANKAR PRASAD M.P. . JUDICIAL REFORMS ARE PICKING UP SPEED. THANK THE BJP GOVT. WE MUST ALL BE VERY GRATEFUL TO THE BENEVOLENT CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA, FOR THIS VERY HUMANE CONSIDERATION OF CASES INVOLVING SENIOR CITIZENS. PLEASE CONVEY THIS "GOOD NEWS" TO ALL CONCERNED, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE HAVING CASES IN THE HIGH COURT OR SUBORDINATE COURTS. THIS ORDER IS INDEED A GREAT BOON TO ALL SENIOR CITIZENS OF INDIA. more
SARMA-JI,
IN ORDER TO GIVE THIS ORDER WIDE PUBLICITY AMONGST ALL THE CITIZENS OF INDIA, WE NEED TO GIVE IT A NAME. CAN YOU SUGGEST A PROPER NAME FOR THIS LAW ENACTED BY THE HON'BLE SUPREME COURT ??

WHY NOT CALL IT ' PANICKER-S LAW '' SINCE I HAVE TAKEN SPECIAL INTEREST IN BRINGING THE MATTER TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SUPREME COURT, WHICH NO OTHER CITIZEN HAS BOTHERED TO DO SO, SO FAR . THANKING ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT. more
Article 41 is thus becomes mandatory too but to be urged by individuals . Such many directives of S.C. need to be made mandatory for lower Courts for concluding Judgments which drastically reduce the Delay in Courts and injustice to those who cannot approach High and Supreme .

Thanks to Sri PanickerG . Our aimed NLFNP to be strengthened for an overll and ever timely Justice . Please also think how to energize . more
All our buildings, cinema halls, government offices and other public infrastructure need to be made senior citizen and disabled friendly. more
including railway stations and airport terminals. more
Senior citizens have suffering a lot with interest rate on fix deposits falling rapidly, so they need to be compensated with lower tax. Secondly the age of super citizen should be brought down to 75 years. more
The issues related to SENIORS have been well documented. Being a senior myself, I would say that TOP priority for Seniors is i) Financial security, ii) Good health care. The rising cost of basic necessities, and that of treatment, are major concern. more
1. Senior citizens are not going to earn too much, those who earn after 60 are rich people so no need of tax exception I dont know how this question was raised. 2. For all the major questions, family structure is important. You work for your childrens till 60 yrs and they in turn should protect you till your life so no need of pensions, most of the govt,, IT companies provide medical expenses to the employees parents. For other private companies, some system can be implemented so as to resolve this problem. 3. Either parents are not co-operating or childrens are not taking care of their parents. This is an emotional feeling inside the family and govt, schemes cannot do anything. It can get monthly settlement but the bondage brings the right solution. 4. In metro cities is their any vacant land for the govt to convert into parks? 5. In SCSS scheme in Post office 9.3% interest is been given by the government which any retired employees can make use of it. If the amount of investment increases then the government would invest the same in many projects in turn will raise the interest rate of the schemes too, because it gives 12% and more interest to the global investors for few of the projects. 6. Digitalization cannot be avoided but senior citizens are not compelled to use computers or phones for doing all the things. Its due to lack of knowledege which makes them not to utilise even the manual schemes. Instead of sending the senior citizens to school, organisations can help them by teaching these things and help them to utilise the schemes offered by the government. 7. Current New pension scheme which is being given to government employees from 2008 is something different which any public can opt for. People can make use of this scheme. more
