Safety and Hygiene Fee

Not sure if a consumer ministry is still active in the country because through this pandemic they have been missing. No posts from them.

See attached, consumers are being charged safety and hygiene fee of inr 150 in saloons.

Has the Govt of India approved this fee? Is there some other ministry that needs to be contacted? more

Yes such a spike in hair cutting fee is common. The hair cutter says as they have to take a lot of measures to protect both self & customers so such spike is justified from Rs.100/- to Rs.150/- This is not only in Saloon such situation is everywhere. Only middle class people are reciving the heat. Govt. has to review such price rise suddenly in service sector and take measures to combat such hike as it will cost a family a lot. more
Ms Reeta , Naturals seem to be a moderate charging Salon for hair cut and trim . You shouldnt forget when the notification of opeing came in advance , the circle members had poured in their suggestions of what the Hair Dressors should doto prevent the Transmission of the Virus . Like linen to be changed for every customer , the blades , and other equipments to be sanitized before and after use , no A/C, and only one customer inside (instead of 3 or more in a room /partition), the waiting customers to be at a social distance , the dresser to sanitize his/ her hands and wear special disposable PPE's. The above all can be followed only with extra cost . The Hospitals treating COvid patients charge the special meals charges of Ts. 900 / day from every patient for the treatingteam (to avoid infection from outside as well as from the hospital this is done ). The stores which test for temperature , and offer Sanitizer (a stff deputed ) dont show it in the bill . But it is reflected all the more on the price of the commodity . Say a 100 gm Narasus coffee powder had costed Rs.48/49 is now Rs.51 . This is just an example . Every commodity price is hiked like this . Even the sreet vendor who wears a MASK & GLOVES has rounded of the per piece price . I think many will have to depend on their own skills in the comming years : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB37mrpLbd0 more
There is no government notification for such type of fees. Consumer Ministry should examine such charges and issue guidelines. more
Approach consumer forum/Competition Commission more
It was Rs. 50/- at Green Trends and I had to only pay Rs. 277 in all for a haircut. Only 4 work spots were active to facilitate social distancing. It was ok. more
