Resinsurance input tax credit in form of lower insurance premium
The GST Council has exempted reinsurance schemes from the purview of GST on the condition that the benefit reduction in premium on such insurance schemes must be passed on to the consumers.
Are the insurers doing this? Has your insurer lowered the premium?

GST exemption is allowed only on specified 24 Insurance schemes. The list is https://www.irdai.gov.in/ADMINCMS/cms/Uploadedfiles/Letter_to_IRDAI_26_3_18.pdf If any consumer is experiencing profiteering in one or more among the above said list of the insurance schemes, then please register your complaint at www.naa.gov.in more

We two, both snr citizens, renewed our Varistha medical insurance with National Insurance Co. I have been charged 18% GST which increased my premium substantively. From the posts here it is not clear whether I have been charged correctly. Can any one please clarify whether the public sector insurer has charged me correctly. If not where to complain. more

I had also paid the full insurance amounts including GST for my vehicle reinsurance as well as health insurance being a senior citizen. more

The government has failed to keep its promises. A GST of 18% on medical insurance especially for senior citizens, what a shame that it. From this financial year onwards, the govt. has marked Rs.50,000/- exemption for medical insurance such that it makes sure that the GST of Rs.9,000/= goes into its coffers! So sad. more
