Renal Transplant issue in India

This is regarding renal transplant issues came through Apollo Hospital Delhi.
It is unfair on part of many citizens to comment on renal Transplant issue, without knowing intricacy related to Renal Transplant Process. It is not same in every transplant barely from the fact that individual has two kidneys so one can be donated easily.

Prospective kidney donor is aware of EACH AND EVERY THING through which he/she is going. So to make a statement that any doctor had stolen kidney is just NOT possible. It is also a fact that in majority of unrelated transplant being done in India, there is cash or kind transaction between recipient and donor.

Issues arise ONLY and ONLY when what was promised to donor is not given or donor has not realised that one day whatever has been given will finish and he will be left no money for the act which he/she did. Then he/she start bargaining or blackmailing the doctor/hospital or middle man. Things start from this point of time.

It is therefore desirable not to comment if one does not know the complexity of procedure such as renal transplant. more

They are not at fault. They just want to save a dear life. If can afford every one do the same. Only way to stop these rackets is to legalise transplant. Dr G L Moondra more
It is easy to blame others. What about the patient and relatives who knowingly buying these organs. Who will punish them. They are the very public like us. It is easy to comment standing at a distance. How many of these people who are writing here about the right and wrong doings will not do the same if they landed into such a circumstance. more
Not a tenable idea at all for our society. Life is not purchased and not a commodity. Rather cadaver organ transplant should be improved on war footing and need of renal transplant should be decreased so that less people need it. more
This is not a unique instance. Such rackets cannot continue without Doctors connivance. Taking a lesson from this case the Government should remove all restrictions from organ transplant. In that case exploitation by middleman an and malpractices will stop. Things will become more economical for all parties. It will be possible to save many more lives. Dr G L Moondra more
Renal transplantation which is not possible without knowledge of person , and if some part is removed , it is known to person , this is told by Mr agarwal .This is of course good to listen but difficult to understand If we analyse the ground reality on Indian environment , we note it is critical medical knowledge and rightly people would be able to understand or judge if someone in highly polished language explains without going through depth of sensitivity , hence lot of ignorant Indians would not be able to go ground reality of it and pros and cons of health related consequences of one organ unavailable. Now here NGO/government agencies /health ministries to frame rules , mind it not to convince the person simply , it is further to create awareness /and consciousness of individual .Secondly donating the organ to earn fast bucks is like exploiting without making educational inputs to person , it may be on humanitarian ground which may push this donations or our dear who deliberately need this facilities , may be permitted to certain extent. But making it trade is highly illogical especially lakhs of Indian either ignorant or misunderstood the real consequences .So here there is need of strict and humanitarian guidelines which should be written /to be understood if really this is needed. more
