By and large the quality of education and infrastructure in Government schools is pathetic. The teachers get paid more than private school teachers but commitment is much lower and with quotas in employment, the best available talent is not being selected as teachers. Also there is no mechanism for assessing the teachers' performance and steps for improvement. Certain number of hours should be set aside every week for training the teachers to be more up-to-date and effective. The present system of annual assessment through exams only leads to corruption and cheating. A system of continual assessment throughout the academic year with a focus on checking real learning and application rather than rote learning is needed. Focus of education must be employability. Primary and secondary education must be compulsory and further learning path should offer vocational paths. Only really deserving candidates may be permitted to pursue university (tertiary level) education. Also, tertiary education may be offered for those with vocational skills and experience with a slightly different focus on practice rather than theory for career improvement. Our youth today perceive college education as something that is a must for everyone; but their view of college is coloured by cinema which portrays college as a place to look for future partners and generally enjoy life rather than acquire useful knowledge. One or 2 years of compulsory national/military service after secondary education can be made mandatory to foster discipline and a sense of national identity/purpose. Such service should be an absolute must for any sort of government employment. This may lead of a better mind set and reduce corruption and perhaps result in a more disciplined workforce in government offices. more
All three areas need to addressed immediately. 1. Electoral funding in India - should be cleansed and state funding to be brought in. Have simultaneous elections in States and Centre to avoid unnecessary burden on the exchequer. 2. State of Education in India - Absolutely pathetic. The education we give to our children has very little relevance to what we wish to achieve as a society and the kind of nation we are building. The education system was tampered with by the British and subsequently Congress and more specifically the, idiot, Kapil Sibal made sure it became a poor joke. The education of elite institutions caters to the requirements of the Multinationals and the Western world. The education dished out by other institution is sub-standard and creates morons rather then thinking individuals who can contribute the development of the country. We badly need a system that caters to Objectives that the Indian Society is trying to achieve today. Some of these being - Innovation, Integrity, Honesty, Corruption Free society, Cleanliness, Betterment of Living Conditions and Environment, Work attitude, Address Issues being faced by the Indian society, etc etc. 3. Root causes of national security and terrorism - Dirty politics of appeasement and polarisation has lead to this. All personal laws have to be subservient to the National law. And swift legal and punitive action should be taken in all matters concerning National Security and Terrorism. Special fast track courts to clear the order within a maximum of 6 months. And examples to be set to discourage people from resorting to terrorism. Any leader giving anti-national or inflammatory speeches to be arrested and not let out. After 70 years of Independence it is high time we as society come to grips with the direction in which we want to move and take strong definitive actions accordingly. more
In India we need a development in education sector. We should ensure education to every children in the country. There are many children's in India who do not have basic education. Suggestions 1. Government should have a proper control over public and private educational institutions. For this amendment should be made in laws which regulate educational institutions. 2. Proper auditing of educational institutions by government agencies. 3. Unifying educational system all over India by removing state wise difference. 4. Many of the private institutions charge high fees for the students. It should be avoided. In every schools and colleges should be fixed by the government. 5. Using latest technologies in teaching field. 6. Ensuring the quality of teachers. 7. Collaborating foreign institution with domestic institution for improving the quality of education. It also helps in improving English language skills of Indian students. 8. Updating syllabus of colleges and schools at a certain intervals. more
