Reducing VIP Culture in India - Addl Inputs

Friends,

Before we finalize the whitepaper on this subject, we wanted to get any other specific implementable solutions you have on this subject.

The solutions identified by you to reduce VIP culture in India are listed below:

1. Except for the President, Prime Minister, Governors and Chief Ministers of states, armed forces service chiefs, no one should be granted VIP status
2. Use of the red and blue beacons should be restricted
3. Roads should not be closed for more than 10 minutes for a VIP movement
4. The international travel plans of the VIPs should be scrutinized
5. Family members of VIPs should not be allowed on official tours with them
6. The VIP quota in Railways should be trimmed and should be usable only in case of emergency
7. The idolising of bureaucrats and ministers should be stopped
8. Government should not try to satisfy the ego of the VIPs by giving them these privileges; it should be based on needs
9. Some privileges should be withdrawn for the VIP culture to diminish
10. The darshan procedure at religious places should be equal for everyone
11. VIPs should not be considered to be above the law – they should be tried like a common man
12. No free frills for VIP. They should foot the bill and claim from the respective department, which should have budget more

Mr. Panicker is absolutely right. The BJP and RSS should identify all the corrupted and filthy rich persons in every city and prepare a BLACK LIST of such persons, including those MLAs and MPs of every state. This Black List must be displayed on all street corners to inform the ordinary citizens about such persons who loot the Exchequer and become filthy rich.It is these persons who buy up all the Real Estate, without paying any Income Tax. Thus the common citizen can never purchase any land , either for agriculture or house-building. more
A public servant should not need protection from the public. Better intelligence and smart guarding should identify and keep out aggressors proactively to protect all people, in stead of sealing in VIPs for their security. more
And I always thought that in a democracy the citizen of the country is the VIP. I think a wrong concept has been generated by our Politicians and later it is accepted by all as a privilege of those who govern, though they are supposed to be "Public servants". It may not go soon, but there is a need to sow the seeds so as to end this VIP culture. more
Thought process needs to be changed.VIP,let prime minister take initiative. If he will behave in plain way other's will follow. As everything flows from top. more
