The GOI should strongly consider reducing GST on Health Insurance to 5% from 18%. This is a necessity as Medical expenses, hospitalization charges are high & keep increasing. more

Why should Insurance be taxed at all?. Is it a luxury?. The absurdity is felt as follows; For senior citizens, they are still required to renew medical insurance either every year or 2 years. This amount cannot be got back. Income for a senior citizen is from pension or savings. So for his health insurance he is required to pay a high premium which is high because of ever high coverage and over and above he is required to pay tax. He cannot get tax rebate because he may fall well within tax bracket. Health Insurance for senior citizens is free in many countries and in India, the Government thinks of burdening them. more
For Senior Citizens, Health Insurance is a must. As they are more liable to be Hospitalized and are not earning salary. Hence Govt must Reduce GST from 18% to 5%. This will give a big relief to them. Also in the 2023-24 budget Govt have not given any relief on Health Insurance Premium. Hence this will be more desirable. more
Every service attracts Gst to maximize revenue collection. On non luxury services, it should be reduced to 5% or 0. To set off loss of revenue, Govt. should reduce wasteful expenditure and cost of governance. more
on one hand govt is trying to promote health everywhere and also in rural areas where it is still not well equipped for health. To start with govt either with say age above some years/income less than say 8 lakhs pa for example can be made free of gst which will give a good step more
I also agree rather there should be free medical and education system similar to the foreign countries more
