What is the source of this information? Red colors can also be naturally extracted from veggies like Beetroot. more

This is an alarming statement. It overlooks that there are a number of vegetable Red colours and safe red artificial dyes. For example Red 40 is a vegan-friendly synthetic food color that is safe for most people when consumed in amounts approved by the FDA for use in food. Colouring foods and natural colours based on anthocyanins and beetroot are the most common replacements for carmine. more

In India there are crores of vegetarians who will feel cheated. The manufacturers of such colors should mention the ingradients prominently on each product. more
