Re: Hindutva Debate&Controversy
Re: Hindutva Culture Debate & Controversy
1. This post is not intended to embroil our beloved PM Shri Modi ji in to any debate on culture or Hindutva. But without promoting culture we can't promote tourism where heritage tourism is the biggest component. We as a nation is caught between the rock&the hard place as they say in England. Can anyone imagine visiting Paris/London minus their cultural heritage icons? Will anyone go to China/Japan/USA minus their own cultural heritage icons. This is where Hindutva as a cultural heritage of India needs promotion.
2. Let me now state my interest/conflict of interest in Hindutva debate for the avoidance of any doubt. I grew up in a Roman Catholic family of 11. My faith (religion as in Indian English) is Christianity but my culture is Hindutva. I can change my faith/religion as I please under informed decision making as I please not once but many times over as I please. Even then I can't convert from my Hindutva culture to another culture. Can anyone anywhere in the world convert from one mother tongue to another mother tongue? The answer is an emphatic "No".
3. I can change my faith at will from being a Christian to a Hindu to a Muslim subject to my compliance&acceptability to those faiths. I can even become totally irreligious and turn in to an atheist but even then I can't change my culture Hindutva or my mother tongue Malayalam. This being the fact why all this hoo ha about Hindutva?
4. There was an attempt brothers&sisters to demolish India's cultural heritage&identity to destroy India's nationhood. What's Bharat which is India without her cultural heritage like her languages, way of life, mother tongues(not English), masalas, attire, diet, attitudes, family values? All that will be without these is an empty cultural vacuum which foreigners can take advantage. This is what a former British cabinet minister Margaret Hodge called cultural, moral and linguistic imperialism. Without cultural nationalism there's no nationalism whatsoever.
5.In Britain one of the few ministries they have is called Department of Culture, Sports and Media all under one roof instead of fragmenting them to work at cross purposes. It's this British ministry which promotes their English language, their English Premier League, their Shakespeare across the world no matter the Secretary (equivalent to our Cabinet Minister) is a hardcore Atheist, Anglican(Anglican Church), Jew or Agnostic. In the promotion of these issues the British were consistent unlike India where dynastic rulers systematically undermine our cultural heritage which is Hindutva.
6. There's no criticism when Europe asserts in spite of all their leftism/Marxism/socialism that their cultural foundation is "Judeo-Christian" values. Then why all these attacks against Hindutva.
7. There's a strategy to make Indians&the Indian government ashamed of our joint cultural heritage which is Hindutva. Brothers&Sisters Hindutva is the most benevolent culture that ever came in to this world. It gave rise to Sanathan Dharma, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Syro Malabar Christiany(oldest Christian church anywhere in the world; older than Vatican&Pope which came in to existence only around 350 AD under Constantine.)
8. It's under these protective&all encompassing wings of Hindutva culture that the persecuted faiths from other parts of the world like the Galilean Jews (2500 BC according to New York Times in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks), the Armenian Jews, the Parsies (900 AD), the Muslims (Cheraman Mosque, Kodungalloor, Kerala, 625 AD), the Christians (52 AD St Thomas, Kodungalloor, Kerala) took refuge in. When all these noblest of noble things were happening in Hindutva India the so called civilized Europeans were committing genocide against their own besides the Jews as in the pogroms of 13th century AD Lincoln&York in Britain, the crusades and what not.
9. Please tell me why should Indians be made to feel ashamed of their own culture?
