Rat Trap

I am sorry, I am posting too many queries in one day.
There is one Rat I see in my home from last 4 days. I bought Rat Pinjra ( Aluminium Rat Trap) also.
but this rat is not coming to eat anything kept in pinjra.
So far I have tried Roti, Tomato in last 4 days.

First day rat has cut tupperware box cover while trying to open it.
Although everything is kept in almirah, but I am worried, it should not spoil any copies, notebooks.
we are on 5th Floor.

Don't know if pest control will help in this.
Please suggest what should be done? more

Rat trap- Mission Accomplished. After 2 days waiting period, got success. I kept it on floor where I saw rat coming-going most of the times. First day, as and when he came on board, he quickly escaped himself. But next day when it came, got Stuck. Thanks everyone for sharing experiences :) more

Today, I have got Rat board (Chuha Chipku) from pest control people, but rat has not come. I have kept biscuit on it. lets see if it comes, Finger crossed. more

Mohana. Thank you. Very "HELPFUL". Renuka before you go to buy a CHUHA CHIPKI. Please "Put Freshly ground Chilli powder, I mean teekha mirch haat se kuta hua, beej ke saath. If your hands burn when you touch this powder it will have the same effect on the rat also." Renuka you can keep CHUHA CHIPKI, you may not find the need. Aap ka Chuha Mirchi Se Hi Bhag jaiyga. more

Freshly ground Chilli powder, I mean teekha mirch haat se kuta hua, beej ke saath. If your hands burn when you touch this powder it will have the same effect on the rat also. They do not die but leave the place. Though the effect is for a short while because chilli powder generally loses its teekhapan, once left in the open for long, still if you continue doing it for a few times, they dont come back. more

Thanks everyone so much, Today I will buy Rat Board ( Chuha Chipku) and will give you update if my mission is successful. Hopefully I will get it from Big Bazar or some other local shops. more
