Rajya Sabha Proceedings
Whenever I watch Rajya Sabha, more often than not I find unruly scenes, shouting and sloganeering and MPs rushing into the well of Rajya Sabha. It is very frustrating to see that parliament functioning is disrupted and valuable time and money is lost. I always wonder if this is called as democracy ! Where MPs cannot listen to each other or there is a lack of understanding and decency to allow every member to speak and listen. Disrupting parliament or legislative assembly functioning is taken as a legitimate right in democracy. Opposition have done it in past and now ruling government facing similar backlash. Where will it stop ? All citizens should voice their concern on such behavior and stop disrupting parliament functioning. more

Better to make Rajya Sabha at Central level and all Vidhan Parishads of states obsolete .These have become the backdoor entry of those persons who are not able to win the election. No work no pay formula must be applied to them also ,as valuable time and money are lost due to disrupting of Parliament and Assemblies .No work no pay formula is applicable for employees in government and in private sector. more

Do we need the Rajya Sabha which is a back door entry for those who loose the Lok Sabha elections / for those who do not have the courage to face the public to stand for the Lok Sabha election. Further you have some family members pushed to the Rajya Sabha even when they are not competent enough. more

The Rajya Sabha was conceived as an institution of learned and wise Indians who would act as advisers to the Lok Sabha in deliberating and legislating policies for the greater good of this country. Unfortunately the institution is now only an instrument to create obstacles and blackmail the govt and is an institution of goons and illiterates who are an deterrent to India's progress. Maybe it is time for India and its people to take a call on doing away with this monolithic useless institution. We are paying for a bunch of miscreants to feel privileged and treat us like a free meal ticket. more

Time for us to react has come. The parliament is non functional means it is a joint strategy of Govt. and Opposition so that they enjoy life at our expense. more
