Purchasing Liquor in Delhi - Issues Faced

Some consumer posts have been received in our Delhi circles indicating the issue of lack of transparency in sale of liquor in Delhi. A few of you have even reported not being able to get the brand you were looking for while some have reported it being sold above MRP.

LocalCircles is committed to bringing transparency and resolving consumer issues. With this post, we seek your inputs on your experience in regards to buying liquor in Delhi in the last few years. Do share as much detail as possible. We will then take this up with the Government so transparency and fairness is brought in the liquor sales process.

We look forward to your inputs! more

Why cant an online order taking app and delivery system be created by Delhi Govt. Voted Kejriwal ji because of anti-corruption plank. This is not under Delhi Police. He can act and clean up the system. more
Buying liquor in Noida is more Expensive so many Noida wallahs buy in Delhi more
Baser on my experience, someone or multiple people in the liquor sales chain are profiteering from consumer. Govt should keep 20% shops as Govt run and 80% privatised so the whole system becomes transparent and leakage is minimised. Mechanism should be developed to ensure private is not selling above MRP. Revoke license if found doing so. more
The price of many brands appeared as ending at Rs. 5 e.g. 185, 175. Most of the times, the balance of 5 Rs. is not returned, cause no one checks the MRP. Thus lakhs of Rs. are moving unnoticed. The pricing must be correct. more
I also suggest that Delhi Govt should make it a requirement to have 3-4 screens, handhelds like Decathalon sports store where 2 simple questions are asked: 1) Did you find exactly what you came to buy (Y, N) 2) Were you charged per MRP? (Y, N, Cant Say) Filling this should be mandatory as part of check out process. more
