Promoting cycling culture in India

Everybody knows that cycling has multiple advantages but the problem in India is that people do feel inferior if they ride bicycles.

This is because we are more exposed to showoffs..
In my recent overseas trip ,I understood that lot of people use bicycles for going to offices and short distance travels.
This keeps the people healthy
It saves valuable petrol and foreign imports.
Lesser number of fatal accidents and so on.

Is it some how possible to get the cycling culture in India? more

This can be a healthy initiative more
Government must restrict the vehicles in markets only pedestrians and cycles must be allowed. Upto college level no student must be allowed to bring automobiles. more
MOST OF THE VILLAGERS ARE STILL USING CYCLES PURCHASING THEM FROM NEAR BY TOWNS . BUT , EVEN THE CYCLES HAVE NOW COSTED AT ABOVE Rs. 4,500/- WHICH , FOR THOSE VILLAGERS IS A COSTLY AFFAIR AND SUCH ARE OPTING SECOND HAND WHENEVER AVAILABLE. THOUGH WHAT YOU SAID IS CORRECT AND TO BE MADE IN USE EVEN IN TOWNS AND SOME CITIES ALSO , PEOPLE THINK THEMSELVES POOR AND INFERIOR TO CYCLE. THEY EVEN OPT BUYING A TREAD BIKE AND EXERCISE IN THEIR ROOM OR , IN A GYM. CYCLING AND CYCLING AROUND THE NATION IS ALL TO VIEW IN T. V. NEWS ONLY . IF A PURPOSEFUL CAMPAIGN IS OPTED AND LEAD BY ANY CINE HEROS OF SOCIAL INTEREST DURING ONE OR TWO MONTHS PERIOD AT CERTAIN HOLIDAYS , THERE WILL BE A DEFINITE USE OF THIS MISSION WHICH ALSO BRINGS A LOT OF REDUCTION OF PETROL USAGE BESIDES UP-LIFT OF HEALTH AND ERADICATING HEART DESEASES. more
You are right...the intention of writing this post here is drawing the attention of the govt for a possible initiative...Lets hope if somebody feels it appropriate and we see something from the govt in this regard more
We need to arrange rallies and promote like in developed countries. Need create interest starting from youth and with work out freaks. Required to take corporate sponsoring (Marketing for them). more
