Government has no control over the druggist and manufacturers. They are going on increasing the rate and there is no control. more
A wide range of general medicines are produced by un-organized sector having no infrastructure. Even their addresses, drug licences, VAT numbers are fake. They supply medicines/medical accessories at highly inflated prices in connivance with Doctors, Nurses and Chemists. Due to corruption and non accountability, no Health Official checks the quality of products and verify their other particulars. The Govt. cannot control the prices of their products. The prices of branded medicines should be regulated by NAPPA and reviewed regularly. more
Spurious Drugs mafias are also taking advantage of high prices of fast moving drugs and apathy of Drug authorities in almost all states in supplying spurious drugs in the market. more
Nowadays Government just pays Lip Service for posterity. It voices its opinion on Channels and Print Media with little intent on follow up or having a design to act. Mafia can survive and thrive only with Political Patronage. Most Ministers have some or other side business which they develop during their tenure so that even when they remit the office, they have steady and abundant source of income and not all of them are listed or declared with EC or IT Agencies. more
I agree. In India medicine is a monopolistic profteering enterprise like, Government, Courts, Agriculture and so on. THis is the leit motif of the Indian Constitution. e,g, "Reservations, freedom of religion, right to own heritage places of worship and appurtenant commonwealth etc. more
