Pollution impact on Food in Open

Those of us in Delhi and NCR area must note that food being cooked and served in the open cannot be completely free of the effect of pollutants in the air. Environmental pollutants like airborne chemicals in dust, vehicular and industrial discharge and accumulated waste contaminates the food exposed to open environment.

I would like to request fssai to educate us on such things. Whats that value of a food safety body if it doesnt alert citizens on do's/don'ts when faced with such public health situations. So many people are forced to eat on streets...Communication to food vendors to keep things covered etc can help people eat better.

Whats been happening in Delhi is called Public Emergency world over but we take everything lightly. 10 years reduced from life span, so what. more

Control of food safety in street food is a priority.Force theseller to undergo some one week course after registering and grant licence only after that .Periodical inspection for adherence to principle Of food safety will instill some discipline . more
FSSAI should come forward in restricting such unhealthy food prepared for public. more
Awareness among us is necessary Mr Anthony has rightly said Common sense is not common. more
Actually Discipline is the crux of the argument here. Most people I have observed in North India...even well educated and from rich family cannot resist the temptation of gobbling down a Hot Aalu-Tikki, Kachori or Momos in the open...and Golgappey stall still continues to have queue in the evenings. Aren't these people aware of pollutants and danger of pollution? They Open their Mouth only to expose themselves to Surgeons who at a later date would open them up. Working in Telecom Sector, I have found that Service Providers having their Base Station near Sewers run high risk of contamination from Sulphur which corrodes the silver metals of the PCB...so when metals can corrode...imagine how our lungs and internal organs exposed to pollutants would look...a designer internals for the medics. more
Common sense unfortunately is not very common in our country. Are you seriously expecting FSSAI or any one to do something about this? more
