Policing in India - Solutions

Policing in India – Solutions Identified

1. Police should be brought under the state Government
2. Police department should be made free from political influence
3. Filing FIR should be made very easy
4. All the police records should be computerized
5. A routine physical fitness test should be conducted for all field staff
6. Physical fitness should be made compulsory in order to stay in the job
7. Corruption should be completely eradicated from the police department
8. Any officer caught taking bribes should be immediately suspended and harsh action should be taken
9. Police should be trained to provide good customer service to the people
10. Just like private organizations, an image building campaign should be done by the police department
11. Vigilance of traffic police should be increased
12. CCTV cameras should be installed in different areas
13. All police stations should be put under electronic surveillance from the inside
14. Staff should be trained to use modern equipment – computers as well as latest weapons
15. Police stations should be modernized
16. Work conditions/culture of the police department should be improved
17. The senior management should motivate the lower rank officials by discussing/working on their career paths
18. The police recruitment process should be made more transparent
19. Honest police man should be rewarded handsomely & media should highlight their achievements
20. The system should be made transparent - every complaint/FIR should have a Unique ID which could be used to track the progress online
21. Salaries, living conditions and work hours should be made at par with private sector more

A routine physical fitness test should be conducted for all field staff Police selection is after physical fitness test. 6. Physical fitness should be made compulsory in order to stay in the job As above. 7. Corruption should be completely eradicated from the police department For this demonetization is necessary. 8. Any officer caught taking bribes should be immediately suspended and harsh action should be taken If 7 is implemented none can take bribe. 9. Salaries, living conditions and work hours should be made at par with private sector Private sector? Minimum wages in private sector is Rs.160/- per day. Please don’t compare with private sector. Just provide decent salary, living conditions and working hours. more  
A proper initial complaint box should be done through Digital India. 1. Type your complaints and get a registered complain no: through Internet. Take a print out 2. Visit your nearest police station with this registered complain no: 3. Register with concerned police station records. Police action:- 1. Concerned station should report the action taken on the particular complain no: This is only because to ensure no particular interest, biased judgement should intervene the act of law. The party can directly approach the judiciary if no action from police. more
