Plying of 10 yr diesel and 15 yr petrol vehicles in Delhi NCR

Can the Chief Minister or his Transport Minister please advise if we can ply 10 yr old diesel vehicle or 15 yr old petrol car in Delhi.

What has been peoples experience? If Delhi Police catches you, do they ask questions about age of car or is that left to transport dept.

Last I heard was 15 yr old diesely vehicles were being impounded but that process has been put on temporary hold. more

It was a retrograde decision to bar 10 ywear old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles friom the roads of Delhi-NCR. The decision does not suit a poor country like India. Instead of controlling the polluting vehciles, the court has penalised the vehicle owners of the vehicles which are otherwise in execellent condition and not emitting heavy pollution. more
True. But often the innocent and law abiding have to bear the cost of ill affects of other careless and law breaking people. This needs to change. We must have a law, whereby those breaking the law are penalized heavily with deterrent punishment and the law abiding should be rather rewarded.

To highlight the above: -

A year back, Haryana govt directed the HUDA plot owners to pay certain amount based on size of the plot, to be paid by a certain date as part of enhancements of compensations to farmers (ordered by the court). Few days AFTER the due date, the govt offered a scheme to subsidise such enhanced payment by 40% and asked the plot owners, who had not paid their dues by due date, to pay only 60% of the enhancement. And the law abiding plot owners, who had already paid up the full amount by due date, were left out of this scheme. They are now running from pillar to post to convince the govt to refund their amount with no end in sight for their struggle. more
10 years & 15 years rules for diesel and petrol vehicles should be applicable for commercial vehicles but private vehicles for personal use should be exempted subject to condition of vehicle and its maintenance. more
No clarity, they need to have a process of fitness tests for these cars, taking well maintained personal vehicles off the road is not a solution. The cops ask for bribes and harass citizens. NGT , Govt, SC needs to review. ROHIT On Sun, 24 Mar 2019, 21:01 Chitra Kumar, wrote: > more
Senseless decision by NGT All senior citizens maintaining their vehicle are compelled to dispose and buy another car If pollution is the main concern all fit cars should be allowed to ply more
Dear Members & Senior Citizens, The Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi very conveniently took the shelter by issuing Guidelines for Scrapping of Motor Vehicles in Delhi, 2018 just to comply with IRRATIONAL & UNJUSTIFIED NGT Regulation concerning 10 years old diesel and 15 years old petrol vehicles through clause 2(iv) “ELV” means End of Life Vehicles and further denying plying of Petrol/CNG vehicles more than 15 years old under clause 12(ii). Unfortunately, Government of India preferred to keep quite on the matter instead of taking a rational & justified approach. The rule that was prevailing earlier, was well justified but its compliance was missing owing to corruption and inefficient administration of Transport Authorities. The governments and NGT have failed to realise the impact of this irrational regulation on the Senior Citizens who invested their hard-earned money to buy the personal vehicles and maintained them well. They also did not realise that it will be hard for Senior Citizens at an age of 60 years and above to buy another vehicle. This rule in simple words is equivalent to asking Senior Citizens to die as they do not deserve to live further. I wish that sensibility may prevail now with no delay and appropriate compliance is ensured by allowing technically fit and safe vehicles. Certification of vehicles could be considered by authorised service centres of respective manufacturers. My experience in the name of compliance with new rule is shameful. I was obstructed by police official on Vasant Kunj Road while going from Chhatarpur towards Airport side with my guests and wife. Police official started harassing me and I told him that I am available with my car (Honda City VTEC) for further action till my death. He, thereafter, did not talk to me and asked my guests and wife to pay an amount of Rs.5000 to go free and unfortunately, my wife and guests did not want me to die but now I am not allowed by my wife to drive my car and I am unable to meet my requirements at the age of 68 years with my self-sustainable life. I had approached for extension of RC for my technically fit car and the concerned Assistant Commissioner told me that I should have got my car transferred out of Delhi and I told him that I have only one home in my country and there is no other address is available with me. His answer was that is my problem. more
